I lived on the island of O'ahu for 2 and a half years. One of my favorite shoots I did there was this maternity shoot with a friend. We didn't really have any plans, we just knew we wanted to capture some photos before her due date. We both woke up around 4:30 AM, headed to the starbucks down the street and started the trek around the island.
Since the sun hadn't come up yet, we had no idea the conditions we would see. I drove to one of my favorite view points on the island, and we parked and waited for a hint of the sun on the horizon. As soon as we start to see the light rays peek through, she put on her dress and we ran to the cliff side. These are still some of my favorite photos to date. There is just something so special about taking these photos in such beautiful locations for clients. After we knew we got the shot, we spent the next hour driving around the island, stopping at beaches before they started filling up, playing with the light and the water and the rocks, and it was the most magical maternity experience I've done so far.
